We are having an issue lately with some of our servers installing updates after the deadline. We do not have maintenance windows in place.
We push out our updates deployment with a deadline of 5:30am. The updates are made available at 3:00am.
In the logs, I do not see any errors or failures. I can see where some of the required updates are downloaded and then installed. The server then reboots at 5:30am. However, even after the server reboots, when it scans again, it finds more updates from the deployment and installs those, and then of course reboots.
The deployments are only for 1 month of updates. The server team creates a separate deployment for each month.
Some of the updates are taking an extremely long time to download and install, so even though the deployment deadline is 5:30am, we have had servers reboot between 3-4:00PM.
We've only had this issue within the last 3-4 months (when a new team of people took over server patching.....)
If all of the updates are not installed by the deadline, will the server still reboot, then continue installing updates, then reboot again?
