Clarification on the difference between Software Updates cycles

Hello. My environment is SCCM 2007 SP2. I am deploying two updates. Update A requires that Update B be installed first. This means that when I look at my deployment reports, Update A is listed as not required on a machine that does not have Update B. After I install Update B, which Software Updates cycle (Software Updates Evaluation Cycle or Software Updates Scan Cycle) will update the database that Update A is now required. I want to be able to tell a beta testers to initiate one of the cycles in the ConfigMgr control panel applet to speed up when they receive the update.

Looking at the below on Technet, my understanding is that since Update A is an existing update and not new, I will just need to run a Software Updates Deployment Evaluation Cycle if I want to speed up the deployment. Is this correct?

Thank you for any information.
