Cannot delete expired patches from my update lists

I'm trying to delete expired patches from my update lists but everytime I try the console just spins and spins and I eventually have to hit cancel which then crashes the SCCM console.

I'm not sure where to look to see what's going on here.  I can delete the patches from my deployments but not the update lists.
