I have 30 Citrix servers(Windows 2003 R2 X86) where on a monthly basis, when I deploy the patches through SCCM, most of them show Downloaded Update in the status of the Deployment Management report. This started with these servers a couple months
ago. Sometimes, the issue will correct itself a few days later, and the systems will install the updates. I've tried stopping and starting both WMI and SMS Agent Host services, and the WMI rebuild and none of that changed the status.
On a few of them, I uninstalled the SCCM client, removed the client from SCCM, reinstalled the client, and the updates did install automatically once the system was a working SCCM client again and added to the advertised collection. But the problem happened
again to the those same servers this month. I don't want to have to reinstall the client on these every month, and the times I can reboot them are limited. I get the usual errors in the SCCM logs for this, and research of those errors only pointed
me to rebuild wmi and reinstall the client. The servers were also rebooted a couple times and still did not correct the issue. Since some did correct themselves, tells me that something isn't necessarily wrong, but there is something preventing
the patches from running. I'm thinking something was open, and WMI wont' release it, even after reboots, to allow updates to install, I just don't know what that could be. Does anyone have any ideas?
